Artist Statement
This tree is one of hundreds in my local area - in public parks, on nature strips and in residential yards - that we often overlook in the busyness of our days.
When I’m out walking, I try to bring my attention to the small wonders that surround me. Modern life is distracting and moments of stillness are rare, but when I’m paying attention I can find them anywhere, especially in the expressions of nature all around me.
When we pause to truly observe the subtle details—the intricate textures and the interplay of light and shadow on the bark of a suburban tree—we immerse ourselves in the present moment. It’s a reminder: YOU ARE HERE.
